He currently serves as the Youth and Associate Pastor at Freedom Chapel Fellowship Church, where he is committed to fostering spiritual growth, mentorship, and discipleship among the next generation.
Early Life and Spiritual Journey
Rev. Simmons’ faith journey began in his early years while attending Hughes Chapel CME Church in Mineral Wells, Texas. It was during his time in this church that he first encountered the life-changing message of the gospel. His early experiences in the church played a pivotal role in shaping his spiritual foundation, instilling in him a strong desire to serve the Lord and help others develop their relationship with Christ. As a young man, Rev. Simmons experienced firsthand the transformative power of youth ministry. The encouragement, support, and teachings he received during his formative years inspired him to dedicate his life to helping others—especially young people—discover their faith and live it out with purpose.
Call to Ministry and Pastoral Experience
Feeling a strong call to pastoral ministry, Rev. Simmons pursued opportunities to serve in leadership roles within the church. His journey as a pastor began with a one-year tenure at Mt. Pisgah CME Church in Jacksboro, where he provided spiritual leadership and guidance to the congregation. He then served as the Senior Pastor at Griffith Chapel CME Church in Commerce for four years, focusing on preaching, pastoral care, and church development.
Throughout his ministry, Rev. Simmons has remained especially passionate about youth discipleship. He has worked extensively to equip young people for mission trips, helping them step out of their comfort zones and make a tangible difference in the world through service and evangelism. His approach to ministry is rooted in a belief that young people are not just the church's future—they are an essential part of it today.
Passion for Youth Ministry
Rev. Simmons’ passion for youth ministry is deeply personal. His experiences as a young Christian profoundly impacted his faith, and he is committed to creating meaningful opportunities for young people to experience that same transformation. He strives to build a youth ministry that is not only centered on biblical teaching but also fosters community, engagement, and spiritual development.
His ministry philosophy emphasizes:
-
Faith Development – Teaching young people how to apply biblical principles in their daily lives.
-
Mission and Service – Encouraging youth to take part in mission trips and service projects to make an impact in their communities and beyond.
-
Mentorship and Guidance – Providing a safe and supportive space where young people can seek guidance and grow in their faith.
-
Fun and Fellowship – Creating an environment where youth can develop strong relationships with one another while enjoying the journey of faith together.
Personal Life and Interests
Beyond his pastoral work, Rev. Simmons enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, and embracing new adventures. He also has a deep love for serving the elderly, recognizing the wisdom and value they bring to the church community.
Vision for Freedom Chapel Fellowship Church
Rev. Simmons is excited to partner with Rev. Larry Jagours and the entire Freedom Chapel Fellowship Family in building a church deeply rooted in faith, fellowship, and service. He envisions a church where people of all ages, particularly young believers, can grow in their faith, discover their purpose, and serve Christ with joy and passion.
His ultimate goal is to create a space where youth can find their identity in Christ, develop a strong foundation in their faith, and become leaders and disciples in their own right. He looks forward to serving alongside the congregation, praying with them, and walking this faith journey together.
